The Electrical Volunters Report Sunday 9th. January 2011.

Post by asbibby »

Saturday saw Jonathan in the workshop to finish off stripping the wooden surround of the Bury clock donated by Ray Butcher. All the old paint has now been removed and the wood rubbed down ready for staining or painting, the metal surround for the clock face has also now been stripped down to bare metal ready for painting.

On Sunday Jonathan, John, Len and myself met in our workshop for a brew before we tested out the fire alarm call points in BBS and The Trackside, we then got out our tower scaffold and caught the triple DMU unit to Heywood Station to recover the two strings of Christmas lights, then caught the Black Five 44871 back to BBS.

Lunch was taken along with a brew and a good warm as it had been a bit nippy up in Heywood.

The scaffold was then used again to take down the Christmas lights on platform one at BBS and the lights outside of The Trackside pub/cafe.

We all went up to our cabin in Baron Street works to see if we could find some electrical hand dryers for use in the new toilet block on platform three/four.

Two hand dryers had already been found and fitted by Simon who by chance we came across at Baron Street, one spare one was found this was taken back to our workshop for testing.

A trunk was sourced thanks to Margaret Station Master at BBS, to store our Christmas lights, these are much better than the large cardboard boxes we have used in the past.

The Christmas lights were stored away, then we dismantled the tower scaffold and locked it away safely, we then tidied up the workshop before one final brew before calling it a day and going home.

Nothing wrong with a cup of good tea.
