The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 12-12-2010.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday to do some maintenance work on our spare platform canopy lights, repainting a repaired fitting from last week.
Jonathan then stripped down into component parts the Bury clock which Ray Butcher has given the ELR. The wooden surround of the clock had years of paint on it, so a start was made on removing the layers of paint.

On Sunday Len, Jonathan and myself turned up, we tested out the fire alarm call points first in BBS and The Trackside and logged the information.

We had been asked to have a look at a fault in the new distribution box which had been fitted mid week, due to a circuit breaker burning out in an obsolete distribution box.

One of the RCD,s was tripping out when the Platform lights timer switched on at approx. 15:30 hrs. We did a few tests but due to all the Santa passengers queing up to use the toilets, we decided that this was a job that was best done out of hours.

The Howson bar car was static in platform four so we took the oppertunity to change all four carriage plugs which were in a dire state.
One of the pattress had a broken brass terminal screw so this was changed at the same time.

Lunch was then taken along with a brew, after lunch we started again on the carriage plug refurbishment program, wiring and fixing the cleaned brass terminals in the newly painted plug cases. We finished ten of them, next week they will need testing and heat shrink tubing fitting over the plug ends to prevent rain water penetrating the wiring.

We then called it a day after having one last brew, what is in store for next week?

Tenerife for me and the trouble & strife, over Christmas with a bit of current bun, with luck, Have fun, back in the New Year & a Merry Christmas to all, roll on 2011.
