The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 31st January 2010.

Jonathan came in on Saturday to work on refurbishing the station lamp fittings.
A full team turned out minus Clive who reported a three inch snowfall in Wigan, so he decided not to risk coming into Bury thinking it would be twice as bad here. The rest of us live in Manchester, were there was just a dusting of snow, that left Jonathan, John, Len and myself to tackle a multitude of jobs, first was to sort out an electrical heater which someone had left outside our workshop in a cardboard box, whoever owns it it is now fully assembled and as been tested OK. Next job was for Roger in the 26B shop we fitted a multiblock socket for his heater and kettle, total load not to exceed 20 amps.
We then put chains on the 24 volt plugs on the carriages in platform two, this stops the plugs swinging and damaging the paintwork.
Heywood shelter lighting was the next job, we needed to source the materials and dies for the conduit work, these we found in our wooden cabin in Baron Street works.
While we sorted out our materials in the cabin we were asked to have a look at the long lathe as it would not start, this appeared to have tripped out so we will have to keep an eye on it to see if it trips out again.
We then made our way back to BBS for lunch and a brew.
The carriage and wagon workshop was our next port of call to replace the 24 volt plugs on the Dining train coach, which was being serviced.
We were asked to have a look at the lights in the mess room on platform three/four, we replaced a faulty five foot flurescent tube.
What a cracking day it had been, resonably warm with a lovely blue sky all day.
Next Sunday up to Heywood to start on the shelter lighting if the weather holds up, if not back to the C & W for more plug fitting.

This was from the Guards' office which has been replaced by a new one. I think that one is now 'free to a good home'!

Hmmm, remove from one office after being replaced by a new one. Refurbish, rebuild, test and then package it off somewhere else...

Prime example of a good recycling policy.
