The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 03-09-2023.

Post by asbibby »

:) Today on a beautiful sunny day i was joined by John, Jonathan and David, after a breakfast barm and a cup of rosy lea, we removed from storage the six lamp heads from Rawtenstall Station.

The lamp heads had not been refurbished since 2018 and were in quite bad condition with plenty rust and a shed full of our eight legged friends, Spiders. :shock:

The lamp heads were stripped first of all, the globes removed and washed clean, the tops of the lamp heads removed and the fixing bolts removed then tapped out, ready for new allen screws to be fitted later. :)
All the lamp heads were then rubbed down ready for painting, which took some time and plenty effort. :shock:

Lunch was then taken El Fresco in the glorious sunshine outside of our workshop.

After lunch we sprayed all the rusty bits of the lamp heads with primer, then covering all the primed parts with Hammerite Smooth paint. :D

Jonathan PAT tested a 240v drill which we had fitted with a new electrical power lead last week, it was returned to the BS4G workshop.

Once dry we then put back into storage the lamp heads which are now ready for final painting next week.;

Tune in next week for more illuminating stories from the ELR Electrical department. :D
