The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 30-07-2023.

Post by asbibby »

:D Today i was joined by John, Jonathan, David and a new electrical volunteer also named David, we had a brew and a breakfast barm as per usual.
With the weather forecast not being too bad for today we would be able to go to Rawtenstall to take down some of the Station lamp heads for their
five year re-furbishment program.

Whilst on platform three/four at Bury Bolton Street Station the Station Master asked to have a look at a double light fitting in the refreshment cabin, the tubes were tested in our workshop and found to be OK, on further investigation it was found that someone had fitted the LED five foot tubes incorrectly blowing the three amp fuse in the light fitting.
A new 3 amp fuse was fitted, lights now worked proving the old saying many hands make light work.

We loaded all our tools and double ladder onto the first train to Rawtenstall to recover the lamp heads, on arrival we managed to remove seven lamp heads.
These were loaded onto the next train back to BBS, on arrival at BBS we unloaded all our gear and equipment and made our way back to our workshop for a well deserved lunch. :)

After lunch we stripped down all the lamp heads, washed all the components and stored them away, ready for sanding down and re-painting starting next Sunday. 8)

Back next week for more illuminating stories. :)
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
