The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 29-07-2018.

Post by asbibby »

:D All five electrical volunteers appeared on a wet and overcast Sunday morning, Jonathan, Clive, Len, John and myself.
Jonathan and Len went off to do the usual fire alarm call point checks in the Trackside and BBS Concourse, everything worked OK and the results were logged. :o
Clive and John tested out the blue button pedestrian crossing system at BBS to ensure all was working satisfactorily. :)

The electrical equipment and extension leads which we had failed in the Carriage & wagon shed a few weeks ago had been delivered to our workshop in a wheelbarrow for repair and testing.
This job took us most of day to repair, test and for Jonathan to PAT test.
New brushes were fitted to an angle grinder, two 110V to 240v transformer modules were repaired and PAT tested plus an 110v angle grinder from the BS4G workshop had its lead reterminated.
110V Extension leads were checked, new plugs fitted and repairs done, then the equipment was PAT tested. :D

No cakes today so we had to settle for some shortbread biscuits. :?

The middle light in BBS tunnel was not illuminated after being rewired, so we had a block put on by the Bury South bobby so that we could check to see what the problem was.
This turned out to be a wiring error which was soon rectified and the block lifted.
Next week it is Thomas weekend so John and myself will be helping out on the Thomas train at BBS. :P

Normal service will be resumed the week after next.

Alan
During the testing this morning I was asked whether the same alarm was pressed each time or do you vary it to check that each one is functioning?

Really, please credit us with a modicum of common sense. What we actually do is test call point one. Then miss one and test call point three. Then, we miss a week or two and wait for someone to ask which call point will be tested next!
