The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 27-3-2016.

Post by asbibby »

:D We once again had full team of electrical volunteers today, Jonathan, John, Len, Clive and myself, Jonathan and Len went off after a swift brew to check the fire alarm call points and fire alarm sounder, everything worked fine and the results were logged.

The station clocks were then reset to British summer time at Bury Bolton Street, one of the clock faces was 30 seconds out, which we would correct later.

We then carried on with the refurbishment and testing of the parts which make up the speedo for our Standard 4 Tank engine 80097. We looked at 80080 which was in BBS to check on how the flexible conduit is run from the speedo head in the cab, to the regulator fastened to the side of one of the rear driving wheels.
Clive renewed the wiring from the speedo head and various other jobs and testing was done on the moving coil meter and the regulator for the speedo.
The regulator was then taken to the Bury Standard Four workshop to have a flange plate made and some remedial work done to a screw coupling, hopefully after we have got all the parts refurbished we will be able to reassemble all the parts and do a full test.
Last Sunday the BS4 volunteers managed to free the coil in one piece from the spare DMU speedo for use to use on the steam generator speedo, this will have new bearings fitted which we obtained last week from a generous supplier. :D

After lunch we caught the train up to Rawtenstall station to correct the clocks there to BST, on arrival the clocks had been corrected by the Station Master and just needed a slight readjustment.
It was then back to BBS to adjust the station clock, then to our workshop for a final brew before calling it a day. 8)
