The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 22-11-2015.

Post by asbibby »

:D A full team turned out today with John recovering from a chest infection, Len recovering from the aftermath of a Christening and Clive, Jonathan and myself.

The fire alarm call points were checked as usual in The Trackside and The Concourse of BBS, all was in order and the results recorded.

During the week we were asked to check out a problem with the external telephone at Heywood Station which has not been working for a number of weeks after being reported faulty to BT.
Clive and John went to Heywood armed with numerous spares to prove were the fault was, on checking various components it was concluded that the fault was on the BT side going to the DP on the telegraph pole.
The Station Manager was informed to report the fault again to BT for them to correct the line fault.

John and Clive then made their way to Rambottom Station to do some more investigation into the station lighting problem, it appears that some more work will be needed to resolve the problem as a relay was found to be malfunctioning and will have to be replaced along with some re-wiring.

Jonathan, Len and myself collected the Christmas lights and long step ladders and caught the DMU for Rawtenstall Station, on arrival we installed the lights from the cafe coach then along the station lamp posts as far as they would reach.
A lamp test was done on the lights and all the dud ones replaced.
Lunch was taken in the cafe washed down with a welcome hot brew, we then boarded the next train back to BBS. 8)

The next task was to install the Christmas lights on the newly erected lamp posts on platform two at BBS, these were loaded onto a trolley and installed on the lamp posts all the way to the shop coach of The Bury Standard Four Group.
Clive and John had rejoined the team after their exploits up at Heywood Station.
A lamp test was done again and the dud bulbs replaced. :)

We then made our way back to the workshop to put all our equipment and tools away before a final brew and finishing off John's Birthday cake from the previous week or so, it had been kept in our fridge and was still fresh, ASDA cakes rule. :|

That was it for another year of erecting Christmas lights on the ELR, back next week for some more enlightening exploits.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.

Just wondering if we have any other fire alarm call points at Heywood, Rammy or Rawtenstall to check as BBS seems to get huge attention weekly :D
