The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 30-11-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:) A full team turned out today consisting of Jonathan, John, Len, Clive and myself, after a brew we were asked to sort out a problem with no electric on one of the carriages in platform four, this was caused by the usual problem of too many appliances being plugged into an extension lead. The fuse was replaced in the extension lead and some of the appliances disconnected, Clive and John sorted out the problem whilst Len, Jonathan and myself replaced two blown bulbs in the Bury Bolton Street tunnel walkway.

The next job was to replace blown bulbs in the Christmas lights we had erected last week at Heywood Station, we didn't have time last week to do a lamp check on the lights.
We caught the DMU shuttle to Heywood and replaced about twenty blown bulbs in the Christmas lights, a bulkhead lamp was also replaced on the side of the station building.

Last week we also did a check on Heywood Station lamps and after changing five blown bulbs, one station lamp was still not working so this week the fuse was checked OK and power getting to the lamp OK. We will need the tower scaffold next week to check the ballast in the top of the lamp, another three new bulbs will be ordered to replace another three lights which appear to have gone out since last week.

It was then back to our workshop in BBS for some lunch and a brew washed down with more chocolate cake which John had brought in.

The next task in the same theme, was to catch the Santa train up to Rawtenstall Station to do a Christmas lamp check on the sting of lights we had erected previously.
Twenty bulbs were replaced in total with a few remaining to be replaced once our stock has been replenished, we will be back there next week to finish off the job.

It was then back on the Santa train to BBS and one final brew before we all headed off home. 8)

Cracking report as always Alan,

I was going to mention that there was a bulb out at Heywood, I noticed it on Saturday when we returned on the shuttle from the Santas.

Are there any more Christmas lights left? Looking at Rawtenstall, the platform from the station to the shelter looks a little bare compared to the rest of the platform.

We haven't got any more Christmas lights. The ones at Rawtenstall are designed to greet you as you step off the train.

Except that part of the Santa steward's safety briefing to the pax before leaving Bury, is not to leave the train at any stations to avoid being left behind...
