The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 8-6-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:) Jonathan was busy again on Saturday painting the four lamp heads which we had taken down and prepared for painting last week.

I was joined on Sunday by Jonathan, John and Len, we had been informed that a light was out in the gents toilet at Rawtenstall station, so a spare D type lamp was sourced to replace the one that had failed.

Sunday was a glorious day so after testing the fire alarm call points as per usual, we re-assembled the four lamp heads, ready for erecting at Summerseat Station.
We loaded up the trolley with all the equipment we would need and caught the 10:20 train hauled by the standard four tank to Summerseat Station.
The four lamp heads were changed and another four were taken down to be taken back to our workshop for renovation.

We then caught the next train pulled by the Teddy Bear engine to Rawtenstall Station to replace the blown D type lamp. The D type lamp that was removed was a two pin type and the spare we had brought with us was a four pin type. Fortunately the Station Master had a spare D type two pin lamp which we fitted in the gents toilet.
We will order some spare two pin D types to replace the stock.

There was just enough time to get four teas from the cafe coach to have with our lunch on the train back to Bury Bolton Street station.

All our equipment was loaded back onto a trolley and deposited outside of our workshop, were we stripped and sanded down the four lamp heads, ready for painting next week.

The workshop was tidied up before we had one final brew, no cakes today i had bought some but had left them at home.

Back next week for more lamp restoration at Summerseat Station.

2D LED retrofits are one of the few retrofits we have had success with, might be worth considering, given that that for you guys the relamping is not the time consuming bit, it is getting to the various parts of the railway.,
