The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 10-11-2013.

Post by asbibby »

:D Well what a fine day it turned out to be today, Remembrance Sunday after the bad weather we experienced on Saturday, still we must be thankful we don't have to tolerate the sort of weather the people in the Philippines are having to endure.

I was joined by Jonathan, Len, John and Simon the ELR electrician, after a brew it was decided that we would start to erect the Christmas lights starting at Heywood Station.
Len and Jonathan went to do the usual tests on the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and BBS, everything worked satisfactorily and the results were recorded.

The workshop was tidied up and then our mobile tower scaffold was recovered from Bury Transport Museum and brought back to our workshop, it was then loaded up with the two strings of lights for Heywood.

The two minutes silence was observed at 11:00 hours opposite the Lancashire & Yorkshire war memorial in BBS before catching the DMU up to Heywood Station.

On arrival at Heywood Station we unloaded the scaffold and set to erecting the first string of lights, after a lighting check we had to change about fifteen duff light bulbs, they were changed before we had our lunch in the waiting room, after lunch and a brew we erected the second string of Christmas lights.
The second string of lights were then checked for blown bulbs and the rest of the station platform lights were checked out also.
We will need a return visit to Heywood Station has four platform light bulbs require replacing along with about a dozen Christmas light bulbs.

The DMU was then boarded along with all our equipment, as we made our way back to our workshop in BBS to unload everything and lay away the scaffold ready for next week.

We had a brew, before having a few slices of carrot cake which i had brought in a couple of weeks ago, and very nice it was, we will be back next Sunday erecting the Christmas lights at Ramsbottom Station.
