The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 30-6-2013.

Post by asbibby »

:o Well that was the last day of flaming June i don't think, Jonathan came in again on Saturday to carry on with the work on the carriage plug refurbishment program, more scraping and painting.

On Sunday we had a full team out Simon our full time electrician, Jonathan, myself, Clive, Chris, John and Len, Jonathan and Len went off to do the usual checks on the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and BBS, all was well and their findings recorded.

The spare parts for our mobile tower scaffold had arrived during the week this would enable us to use the scaffold at it's maximum height, the missing parts consisted of three horizontal bars along with the kick board attachments.
Clive had been busy at home with the jig saw, cutting out intricate pieces for the completion of the kick boards, Clive had brought all the bits and pieces plus all the wood adhesives and nails etc. When we came to assemble the kick boards, one was found to be slightly shorter than it should have been, so we decided to check out the carriage & wagon shed to see if we could find a suitable replacement.
A suitable piece of ply was found and after asking permission if we could use it, off we went back to our workshop to cut and fit it to size.

One of the stabiliser clamps ordered was not of the correct type so pictures were taken of the correct clamp, these will be E mailed to the manufacturer for the correct part to be sent to us.

Lunch was then taken with chocolate swiss rolls on the menu today, Mmmm.

After lunch more work was progressed on the kick boards along with sanding down and painting in an appropriate colour of bright red!
Jonathan said he would paint the other sides of the kick boards next Saturday, we then stored them temporarily in the store under the stairs of platform 3/4.

Two of the fluorescent fitting on the slope of platform three had been taken down in mid week by Simon and the mid week electrical volunteers who are re-wiring BBS Station, these were stripped and cleaned ready for re-fitting.

Six new carriage plug leads were soldered up, with cleaned up copper pins, they will be finished off next week.

That was it for another week in the Sunday electrical volunteers day. :D
