The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 9-9-2012.

:D What a glorious day it was today, when we arrived at BBS after we all parked in the leisure centre or at Baron street due to the historic vehicle show held in the museum yard and BBS car park.
Some terrific cars were on show with many hours spent on their restoration and upkeep.

I was joined by Jonathan, John, Len, Chris and Simon, Jonathan and Len went off to do the safety checks on the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and BBS, all was OK and the findings recorded.

The Station clock was removed whilst the restoration of the roof on platform three/four takes place, about a third of the old roof has been removed so far. We will refurbish the station clock and service the mechanism before it is replaced..

Simon asked if we could carry on with the replacement of the ETH wiring on the Santa carriage M4873.
This task is taking some time with all the wiring now replaced we have started the process of re- connecting all the new wiring to the heaters and control mechanisms.

Lunch was then taken before returning to the Santa carriage which had it's bogies replaced last week by the Bury MPD crane, one of it's last jobs before being re-certified.

We then returned to our workshop for a brew before going home for a welcome pint, after a hot days work in the dusty and very hot carriage.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
