The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 10-6-2012.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan was back in on Saturday after having a week off, he painted two bulkhead light fittings which we had discovered in our workshop last weekend.
A number of carriage plug casings were also give a lick of black gloss.

On Sunday I was joined by Clive and Jonathan, we had a brew first before Clive began to re-assemble and wire up the two light fittings that Jonathan had painted on Saturday.

Jonathan and myself went off to do the fire alarm call point checks in The Trackside and BBS Station, all was well and we recorded the findings in the log books.

It was then decided that we would finish off the job of providing lighting under the staging in Bury Transport Museum, we gathered our tools and made our way to the museum. The job midway through was brought to a stop when we found out that the pipe bender and vice was locked up in the attic room above the education room in the museum.

Lunch was then taken before we caught the next train up to Rawtenstall Station to do some maintenance on the Station lamp post access panels and the fixing screws on the outside canopy lights.
The lamp post screws were greased up first before tackling the five outside canopy lights, these lights kept tripping out previously due to water ingress through the leaking roof which had been so called, been repaired.
However when we unscrewed one of the fittings we were drenched in water from the fitting, it looks like water is still getting in to this one fitting. A report was left with the Station Master as the ELR has spent a considerable amount of money on having Rawtenstall roof repaired recently.
To prevent any more water build up we drlled a hole in the plastic cover to allow the water to drain out.

We then caught the train back to BBS and called it a day.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
