The Sunday Electrical Volunteers Report 19-2-2012.

Post by asbibby »

A smaller team this week, myself, Clive and John with Simon the full time electrician met up in our workshop, after a brew we set off down to Baron Street to carry on with the cabling of the fire alarm and emergency lighting system in the sleeper carriage.

We dropped down all the hinged lighting panels in the corridor and started to install two more looped cables for the sounders and the fire alarm call points.
Two of the corridor lights had packed in working so we replaced the fluorescent tubes in them and tested them for working OK.

An early lunch was taken before returning to Baron Street, the cables have to be fished through the electrical cubicles at one end of the carriage all the way down the corridor looping in and out of the sleeper compartments, we left about two metres of cable to be fished through into the compartments later on, not an easy task.
There has to be a detector in each compartment, sounders and fire alarm call points in four different positions, so enough work to keep us busy for the next few weeks or so.

The corridor hinged lighting panels were fastened back up again before leaving and heading off back to our workshop.

Next week is the steam gala so we shall have to see what that brings, otherwise it is back to the sleeper carriage.

The positioning of the control panel in the sleeper carriage will be decided next week, after consultation with M.V. :(
