The Sunday Electrical Volunteers Report 23-10-2011.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan, Clive, Len and myself met up in our workshop, John was on holiday today sunning himself in the south of France.
We had planned to start to erect the Christmas lights at Heywood station but the wheels off our mobile tower scaffold are locked up in Bob Johnson's workshop, we need them to be liberated.

Len and Jonathan checked out the fire alarm call points as usual in BBS and The Trackside, all was well and the findings recorded.

A stock check was undertaken on our various types of lamps which are used about the railway, the quantities and locations were updated on our computer.

We had arranged with the Telecomms department to meet and travel up to Summerseat Station to connect up our electronic control unit which we had installed in the electrical cubicle in the Summer. This will enable the Summerseat Station lights to be switched on initially from Ramsbottom signal box and eventually from BBS.
There are ducts between the signalling cubicle and the electrical cubicle but on investigation it was found to be impossible to fish from one cubicle to the other.
A temporary connection was made pending a more permament solution, the Telecomms section will now finish off the connections in Ramsbottom signal box and test out the remote working.

We caught the train to Ramsbottom, then changed trains to get back to BBS Len left the train at Bury, the rest of us carried on up to Heywood Station to inspect a soft drinks cooler which required a safety check.
All was OK with the drinks cooler so we returned back to BBS and our workshop.

Next week we hope to have our mobile tower scaffold back with it's wheels, so we can make a start on the Christmas lights at Heywood Station.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
