Electrical Volunteers Report 11th Sept 2011

Post by JONATHAN-BARNES »

Today there were just myself, Len and John.

The fire alarms were tested as usual.

We were informed that one of the round ceiling lights in the booking hall had failed. We took the long step ladders to investigate. We found that the fluorescent tubes had failed. These are an unusual type and will need to be ordered as we have none in stock. The round shade/cover was taken back to workshop and given a good cleaning and stored away until we get some new tubes.

Ray Butcher paid us a visit. We have done a lot of work in restoring an old station clock that he has donated. We are half way through the job of installing it in the engine shed. It now appears that it may be shifted to the museum. We will put this job on hold pending a decision.

We had a brew before walking down to C & W to comple
the the job on the stove carriage, parked just in front of C & W shed. The job is to install wood blocks, patresses, jump leads and covers onto the South end of the carriage. We had half done the job when the sky turned black so we decided to retreat to workshop for dinner. There was a heavy shower as we had dinner. After dinner we returned to C & W and completed the job in the sunshine.

On returning to workshop we installed a hasp, staple and padlock on one of our workshop cupboards. This will be used as a store for volunteers’ tools etc and should help to distinguish between the railway’s property and members’ personal property.

We then had a final brew before knocking off.
