44871 Light Engine move

Post by willig »

Here's a couple of shots of 44871 on its journey to Keighley, KWVR, via Carnforth.

Here she is just after setting off, near Middleton:

At the risk of asking a silly question, would 44871 have gone via Bolton and Horwich Parkway on it's way North?

Missed it going passed cos I was helping a colleague but everybody else shot to the window to look, they were all surprised to see a steam loco going by, the usual traffice is TPE and Northern DMU's, Ijust saw the smoke as it had gone by.

Same here. I was "working" in Manchester city centre today and got out of the building at about 11.30 - just in time to see the trail of steam as it passed through Salford.

reason for strange route is that it was going to carnforth first to collect newly painted coach and then via smithys branch line to kwvr I believe

According to Mr. Riley on another forum, its ended up facing the wrong way, because of a points failure at Keighley.

They are hoping to take it to Shipley triangle tomorrow to turn it.

Does the turntable at Keighley on the KWVR not work or is 44871 too big for it ?
