The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 16-1-2011.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday to carry on with work on The Ray Butcher Station clock. The wooden surround of the clock as now been firmly secured with extra screws, the next step will be to obtain some dark stain for the wood. The metal clock face requires some touching up on the face and some of the figures, if any one out there is a dab hand at intricate work please contact us.

In the afternoon Jonathan tested World Dryer Corp, electric hand dryers, the cam timer requires some remedial work.
The carriage plugs then came in for some more stripping down treatment.

On Sunday a full team turned up, Jonathan, John, Len, Clive and me, Len and Jonathan went off to do the fire alarm call point testing in BBS and The Trackside.

Outside of our workshop another long 240v electrical charging lead had been left for repair after being run over by carriages again, the damaged piece was cut out and the cable jointed using crimps, self amalgamating tape and glue filled heat shrink tubing.
Will all Guards and shunting staff please remove the charging leads from trailing over the rails before the stock is moved, it doesn't take much and it is getting annoying repairing them all the time!

We then took lunch followed by a decent brew and a lovely mince pie each.

The World Dryer Corp. hand dryer's cam timer was repaired and tested along with another Redring hand dryer, these will be used in the new Ladies toilet.

We decided then to go for a ride to Rawtenstall to see if everything was OK electrical wise, one of the Station staff informed us of a problem with a circuit breaker tripping, it was the external canopy lights and the clock tower lights causing the problem, this will be investigated next week with our tower scaffold to make access easier.

We then returned to our workshop to look for some spare light units for the canopy lights at Rawtenstall, one more brew then we all called it a day.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
