The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 21-11-2010.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday to carry on with renovation work on the Victorian lamp heads.

Sunday saw a full team of volunteers out including Simon Riley, Simon came in to attend the safety management meeting to be held at 12:00 in Castlecroft museum.

We had been told about a problem with the floodlights outside of the diesel shed so we all went over to the diesel shed to have a look at the problem. The floodlights are higher than our tower scaffold will reach safely so will have to liase with the diesel department to overcome the access problem.

Len and Jonathan meanwhile were testing out the fire alarm call points in BBS and The Trackside pub and recording their findings.

We went with Simon to check out a problem with some of the carriage plugs on a Santa coach, water ingress and a pattress problem.

A visit was then made to the carriage & wagon shed to see if any carriages were in for refurbishment, a MK2 was found in the shed having a lot of rusty metal replaced, the old carriage plugs were taken off and moulded replacement plugs given to the carriage & wagon staff.

Whilst we were in the shed it was reported that two hi-bay lamps were not working, we would attend to this after the safety briefing.

As 12:00hrs. approached we made our way to Castlecroft Museum to attend our safety meeting, slides were shown on the hi-tec white board, questions and answers followed with an examination at the end, just to prove that everyone had been listening.

Lunch was then taken in our workshop before making our way back to the Carriage & wagon shed to assess the task in replacing the two hi-bay lamps. We had taken our ladders to the C & W and after assessing the task we secured the ladders, donned our hard hats, footed the ladders and replaced the hi-bay lamps to appreciation of the staff who work in the C & W.

We then returned to our workshop to do a bit of research into some heat shrink tubing, before having a brew and calling it a day.

Summerseat next week providing the weather is kind to do some work on the remote control of the station lights.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
