The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 07-11-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:D The intrepid quartet today consisted of John, Jonathan, Colin and myself, after a brew and some of Mr.Kiplings finest and with the weather being kind to us, it was out with Rawtenstall Christmas lights a set of ladders and some tie wraps.
We loaded all our equipment and caught the first train up to Rawtenstall Station, on arrival we quickly unloaded all the gear and erected the Christmas lights, i had a quick word with the Station Master to test out the lights and then we returned to Bury Bolton Street Station on the same train. 8)

On arrival back at BBS we were told that there was no electrical power on the security cameras etc. at Heywood Station, the next train up to Heywood would be in about 30 minutes so we had time for an early lunch and a brew.

It was decided to take with us the two sets of Christmas lights for Heywood Station as it would be some time before the next train could take us back to BBS from Heywood Station.
We checked for power in the electrical cabinet containing the security electronics and found out that the mains plug was loose in it's socket, on pushing in the plug, power was restored to the electronics.

We then erected both strings of lights on the platform lamp standards and tested them to ensure they were lit OK.
It was then pointed out to us that only one of the many car park lights were working and three of the platform lights were also not illuminated. A cherry picker is needed to replace the car park lights as the lights are quite tall. we will replace the platform lights next week or the week after

The next train after the diner train was caught back to BBS, not before having a brew in the new cafe in Heywood Station and very good it was, Thank You.

A final brew was had in our workshop after unloading all our gear with more of Mr. Kiplings finest curtesy of Sue Sue again, MMMmmmmmm.

We shall be back next week for more endeavours with the electrical volunteers.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
