The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 17-10-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:D The band of electrical volunteers today consisted of Jonathan, Colin, John and myself, it was steam gala day today with a great selection of engines entertaining all our customers.

After a brew and a bacon barm each, the fire alarm call point checks were completed on Bury Bolton Street concourse and the results recorded. :)

We walked up to the Bury Standard 4 Group shed to check on a cooling pump which had been taken off a lathe last week, the pump is a specialised one and will probably have to be taken to a specialised workshop to have the windings re-wound.

New 2 pin D type lamps had been bought so it was off to the toilet blocks on platform 3/4 to replace some D type bulbs there.

Lunch was then taken in our workshop at least the weather was not too bad with the rain holding off.

It was then decided to get out the Christmas lights for Rawtenstall Station as we had previously removed some duff LED bulbs from the string and had let the bulb holders dry out.
The string of lights were laid out and numerous bulbs were changed then all the LED bulbs were checked to ensure that water ingress would be avoided.
Were rubber caps were missing we wrapped self amalgamating tape between the bulb and the bulb holder to stop water penetration. :)

A final brew was had with a quarter each of a Galaxy chocolate cake, provided by Sue, Sue. MMMMMMmmmmm.

We shall be back next week with a few more bright sparks. :?
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
