The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 04-07-2021.

Post by asbibby »

:) The intrepid crew in today, consisted of myself, John and Jonathan, the weather forecast was a bit on the grim side with a forecast of heavy showers, they weren't kidding. 8)

After a brew to warm us all up, is it really Summer, we recovered the two fluorescent fittings which we had taken down from BBS platform 3/4 last week and filled a bucket full of warm water to wash off the pigeon poo from the fittings.

The portable table from our workshop was taken out so we could work on refurbishing the fittings in the open air, we later moved the table under cover to escape the rain.

The metal light fittings were were rubbed down with coarse grade emery paper to remove rust and to provide a key for repainting, the metalwork was wiped down with white spirits before Jonathan got out the Hammerite smooth black paint a brush and started to paint the metalwork. :)

We cleaned the Plastic covers of the fittings and took out the LED tubes to give them a clean, it was then time for some lunch.

Jonathan finished off painting the fittings, leaving them to dry under cover. :o

A final brew was had before the light fittings were moved back into our workshop to dry off completely.

The refurbishment of the BBS Station canopy light will probably take us into August before all twelve fittings are completed. :D

Back next week for more illuminating work at BBS. T.T.F.N.
