The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 28-07-2019.

:) What a difference a few days make, record temperatures on Thursday and piddling down today with much lower temperatures. :(

I was joined by Clive, Jonathan and Len, first job as usual was to check out the fire alarm call points in the Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station concourse. All was tested satisfactorily and the results logged. :)

We had a brew and some of Tesco's finest cream cakes supplied by Sue Sue, Mmmmmmmm.

I was in a board meeting of the Bury Steam Locomotive Company Ltd. from 09:30 to 12:30 in the FXP building.

Clive, Jonathan and Len sourced, re-wired and tested two five foot fluorescent double lighting units, a five foot double unit was exchanged for a single five foot unit which we had installed in a storeroom under the arches a few weeks ago.

Lunch was taken at about 12:45 with another brew and the more of the cream cakes, Clive stripped and rewired a five foot unit and tested it in our workshop. :D

Clive had to leave early, so the rest of us carried the two refurbished lighting units along with our tools and headed down to the Bury Standard 4 Group workshop to install the refurbished units.
We managed to dismantle one unit and replace it with one of our refurbished lighting units, whilst Len fitted chains and cable to the two remaining units.
Once installed the unit was tested out OK, we will fit the other two units in a couple of weeks time after the Thomas event next week.

Outside of the BS4G workshop the BS4G volunteers have done a tremendous job of grit blasting, under coating and glossing the frames of the Ivatt class two. Four weeks ago they looked in a sorry state, they now look much better and progress is continuing on the restoration. :D

We had a final brew and polished off the last of the cream cakes, it is Thomas week next weekend and i shall be working on the Thomas train, back to electrical shenanigans the week after. T.T.F.N.
