The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 17-03-2019.

Post by asbibby »

:D Five electrical volunteers in today, Jonathan, Len, Clive, Colin and myself, after a brew we recovered the mobile tower scaffold from our storage place, collected some tools, new fluorescent tubes and starters and made our way to Bury Bolton Street Station booking hall.

The lights in the booking hall had not been replaced for about ten years and most of the light fittings were fitted with three fluorescent tubes and starters.
Max gave us a hand in taping off the area we were working in to protect our customers from the work area, this was moved as we changed the light fittings throughout the booking hall. 8)

Once we started it was found out that quite a large percentage of the tubes, starters were faulty along with a couple of ballast units. All the shades were removed first and given a good cleaning before being refitted.
A total of twelve units were completed after which we broke for some lunch back in our workshop. :)

The remaining units were all completed later in the afternoon and the booking hall is now looking much brighter now. One fitting required a replacement ballast unit which was completed and then the lights were tested to ensure they all worked OK.

A final brew was had with some cream and jam doughnuts provided by Sue, after which we called it a day and retired to from whence we came. :o

Back next week probably to do some more PAT testing in the Bury Transport museum.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
