The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 21-10-2018.

Post by asbibby »

:D Just three electrical volunteers in today, Len, Jonathan and myself, the weather was dry in the morning so it was decided to recover our mobile tower scaffold, give it a good going over with WD40 and use it to install the Christmas lights at Heywood Station. 8)
Clive & John could not make it today. :(

We boarded the next train up to Heywood Station with two boxes of Christmas lights a few tools, zip ties and a box of spare light bulbs.

The Station master pointed out to us that the second platform light from the Bury end was not working and five of the station car park lights are out, these will have to be changed with a bigger tower scaffold than ours as the lamp posts in the car park are quite high. :o

The first string of lights were installed then we had a break for lunch with hot drinks supplied by the station staff, thank you. :D

After lunch we installed the second string of lights, then a lamp test was done on both sets of lights, we changed about forty bulbs in total.
The scaffold was then dismantled and put back onboard the guards van, back to Bury Bolton Street Station. :)

Tea was taken with some cream cakes supplied by Sue in celebration of the completion and steaming of our loco BR Standard 4 80097. :D

When we arrived back at our workshop in BBS 80097 was working back and forth in and around Bury Bolton Street Station to the delight of many onlookers. :D

We shall be back next week for more Christmas light installations, weather permitting.
