The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 14-10-2018.

Post by asbibby »

:D On a wet rainy Sunday, five volunteers turned up, Jonathan, John, Clive, Colin our new recruit and myself back from holiday and organising our motor club special stage rally at Three Sisters Race circuit, Wigan. 8)

Len had contacted us to say that he was unwell today and would not be coming in today. :(

The first task was to test the fire alarm call points in The Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station concourse, everything tested out OK and the results logged. :)

We had a swift brew before tackling the next job, we had been informed that there was some lights to be checked at Rawtenstall Station so Colin, Clive and Jonathan gathered up some spares and tools and caught the next train to Rawtenstall.

John and myself went to the Bury Standard 4 Group workshop were we had been asked to look at the pit lights which had failed, on investigation it was found that a circuit breaker had tripped. Once reset the pit lights worked again, but it was noted that one of the pit lights was not working, we dismantled the fitting and brought it back to our workshop for repair, this turned out to be a blown fuse, brittle wiring and a faulty capacitor in the unit.
A new capacitor and fuse was fitted and the unit tested before it was re-installed in the pit.

A late lunch was then taken in our workshop with Clive, Colin and Jonathan who had returned from Rawtenstall Station after replacing various light bulbs.
John had brought two sponge cakes which were soon devoured between us. :D

Jonathan had a look for our mobile tower scaffold in the beer cellar but it was nowhere to be found, if anyone knows were it is please let us know as we need it in the next few weeks to install the Christmas lights in the Stations. :?
