The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 7-1-2018.

Post by asbibby »

The first report of 2018 and what a beautiful day it was, clear blue skies with plenty sunshine even at Heywood Station were we spent most of the day. :D

The foursome today were Clive Jonathan, John and myself, after a brew and something warm in Bury Bolton Street Station buffet we caught the 10:50 train up to Heywood, the mobile tower scaffold along with the boxes which contain the Christmas lights were all loaded onto the guards van prior to boarding the train. 8)

We were asked to do a repair job at Heywood Station whilst we were up there after a bout of vandalism in the early hours of Sunday morning. :(
The boards we used for the temporary repair were sourced from Bob Johnson's store under the arches, they need to be returned when a permanent repair is affected.

All the Christmas lights were taken down and stored in their boxes safely, it was then time for some lunch and a brew kindly provided by the Station Master. :D

The next train was then caught back to BBS, the scaffold offloaded along with the lights and all stored away safely.

The Christmas lights alongside platform two at BBS were then dismantled and stored away safely.

One final brew and a choice this time on the cake front, from Christmas cake, chocolate sponge cake or mince pies, we didn't scoff the lot, well nearly, the remains of the Christmas cake & mince pies were put back in our fridge for next week.

Next Sunday it will be more taking down of Christmas lights at Ramsbottom Station & Rawtenstall Station weather permitting.

Happy New Year to all NUELR Forum readers.
