The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 26-11-2017.

Post by asbibby »

A full team out again today in very cold and wet conditions, Len, John, Jonathan Clive and myself, after a swift brew we retrieved our mobile tower scaffold and the set of Christmas lights for platform two at Bury Bolton Street station.

Just before we started to erect the Christmas lights we were asked to replace a flashing D type lamp in the gents toilets on platform three/four, the duff one was replaced with a new D type lamp.

The lights were then erected from the end of the canopy along platform two utilising the new lamp posts to the Bury Standard 4 Group shop, they were then connected up to the control box and the mains supply cabinet.

Lunch was then taken after erecting the lights during the breaks in the weather, sunshine then pouring down with rain and cold with it.

It was then back to testing the lights, resetting the control clock and replacing about fifteen bulbs.

Last week we were asked to have a look as to why the small lathe in the BS4G workshop was not working, this turned out to be a faulty security switch on the lathe. The switch was repaired today and refitted on the lathe.

Two fluorescent tubes were then looked at as they appeared to be black at the ends, once the ladder had been put up to gain access the tubes were turned and the tubes started to work once more.

A new fluorescent light fitting was wired up to a length of cable and tested in our workshop and fitted with fixing chains ready for installation next week in the BS4G workshop.

A final brew with cake and it was then time for home.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
