The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 12-11-2017.

Post by asbibby »

8) All five electrical volunteers in today, Len, John, Clive, Jonathan and myself, we retrieved our mobile tower scaffold and the Christmas lights for Rawtenstall Station and a few tools and caught the first train, the 09:30 train to Rawtenstall. :)

On arrival at Rawtenstall Station we offloaded all the equipment and proceeded to install the Christmas lights from the electrical point on the side of the Cafe carriage down the platform as far as the lights would reach. :o

It had been brought to our attention a few weeks ago that one of the globes off one of the platform lights had fallen off.
The globe was recovered by the station staff and refitted whilst we had the mobile tower scaffold to hand, this lamp head will be swapped when the Christmas lights are taken down to have some remedial work done to it.

Lunch was then taken in the Cafe with tea provided by the staff, we then had a piece of sponge cake provided by John. :D

After lunch a lamp check was done and about twenty bulbs were changed in the Christmas lights.

A final station lamp check was done to ensure all the platform light were working. :)

We had found out at lunchtime that City of Wells had failed and that the class forty Atlantic Conveyor was coming to our rescue to take us and all our equipment back to our workshop in Bury Bolton Street.

We all had a brew to warm us all up on this cold but dry and sunny day before repairing two heaters from the Bury Standard 4 Group, they had two new plugs fitted with the correct fuses and a new thryrister fitted which Clive had sourced. 8)

Back next week with some more electrifying moments and erections of Christmas lights, probably Ramsbottom Station.

Does anybody know anything about the damage done to one of the new Blue Buttons installed at the Barrow Xing at BBS?
