The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 9-7-2017.

Post by asbibby »

:D All five electrical volunteers reported for duty today, John, Len, Jonathan, Clive and myself, after a quick brew we recovered the six lamp heads which we have refurbished over the last few weeks. 8)

With all our tools, lunch boxes and lamp heads we caught the next train to Rawtenstall Station, on arrival everything was unloaded, the first lamp head to be re-installed was on the one and only original East Lancashire railway lamp post near the gents toilets. This one has a special fitting and takes ages to install.

We then installed the other six lamp heads and did a lamp test on the Station lights, two failed to light, one was a LED bulb which needed screwing in a bit more and the second one was a fuse carrier which wasn't behaving itself.

Lunch was then taken outside of the ELR cafe in the bay platform with a brew provided by the cafe staff. :D

The last lamp head that had not yet been restored was taken down and replaced with a spare one which had been restored earlier. :o

There is one more lamp head to install this will be done in the near future.

It was then back to our workshop in Bury Bolton Street Station for a final brew and to sample a swiss roll brought in by Len, very nice.

Back next week for some more shocking revelations. :P
