The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 18-06-2017.

Post by asbibby »

:D All five electrical volunteers reported for duty in our workshop at Bury Bolton Street station, after a brew it was decided that Clive, Len & John would gather some tools and to catch the next train to Rawtenstall Station to recover the last two lamp heads to be refurbished.

We recovered the the six lamp heads from storage which had been cleaned, sanded down & painted white last week, Jonathan got on with painting the lamp heads in black smooth rite paint. :)

I got on with stripping down the Smiths Speedo Regulator & Cabling, the unit took some stripping down has it probably not been touched for many years.
The connecting copex stainless steel cable was fitted with a length of heat shrink tubing where the metal shielding had been damaged. :P

layers of paint applied over many years was chipped off the casing a lid of the regulator ready for a final application of Nitromors next week to remove the last vestiges of paint. The unit will then be painted in a light grey colour and tested before being fitted on The Bury Standard 4 Group engine 80097, this will replace a regulator which had been refurbished last year and fitted on the engine, were it went is still a mystery. :x

Clive, Len & John returned to our workshop and began stripping down ready for painting to two lamp heads recovered from Rawyenstall Station. :)

We had a final brew with a piece of songs cake each provided by John, before leaving for home. :D

Next week we should be able to install the six lamp heads from Rawtenstall Station which have now been refurbished in our
workshop.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
