The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 07-05-2017.

Post by asbibby »

:) All five electrical volunteers reported in today, Clive, John, Jonathan, Len and myself, after last week in which myself and John helped out on The Thomas event.

We decided to work outside in the glorious sunshine, so with a trestle table to work on we brought out the six station lamp heads which we had removed from Rawtenstall Station a few weeks ago.
These had been rubbed down previously and treated with a rust preventative chemical, it was now time put put on the top coat of smooth Hammerite black paint. :P

One of the tops off the lamp heads was fitted with a butterfly nut and bolt and nut was epoxy resined in on another light unit.

Lunch was then taken outside our workshop with copious amounts of tea to wash down the Macvities carrot cake. 8)

We then started some restoration work on some C & W plug in battery testing equipment which we had found in our workshop.
The meter glass on one of the test instruments requires fixing along with a disconnected meter terminal and some broken resistors.
More on this next week.

By this time the lamp heads and tops which had been drying in the sunshine were dry and we were able to paint the underside of the lamps with white paint.

Once all the paint had dried the lamp heads were stored away ready for re-assembly and testing next week. :D
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
