The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 23-4-2017.

:) What a very pleasant day it was today, brilliant sunshine, blue skies and an A4 Union of South Africa providing the motive power along with the class 50. 8)

In today were Jonathan, Len, Clive and myself, John attended a radio club auction, the task today was to strip, rub down and treat the rust on the six lamp heads we had removed from Rawtenstall Station.
The lamp bowls were thoroughly cleaned with soapy water and left to dry out in the sunshine, the tops of the lamps were unscrewed, cleaned and then rubbed down.
Next the bottom of the lamp heads were stripped rubbed down and treated with rust preventative.
They will be all be painted in the week after the Thomas event. :P

Lunch was taken, after which we made short work of a chocolate roll which Len had brought in. :)

A bench grinder was given to us by the Bury Standard 4 Group to rewire and PAT test, this took us the rest of the day and it was returned to the group after passing the PAT test.

John and myself will be in next week working on the Thomas train no doubt.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
