The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 22-01-2017.

Post by asbibby »

:D It was a cold day today, damp but at least it wasn't raining, after a brew the four of us, Clive, Len, Jonathan and myself recovered the two containers for the Christmas lights and caught the train up to Heywood Station.
On arrival at Heywood Station it started to snow slightly, but not to be deterred we carried on with the dismantling of the lights. :P
We dismantled the two sets of Christmas lights and packed them away in their respective containers.
Lunch was taken with brews provided by the Station Master, during which i received a call from John one of our team of intrepid electrical volunteers who had arrived later and had missed us.
We fitted on the roof a plastic box to house the electrical sockets for the Christmas lights supply, this should help to keep the plugs a bit drier rather than wrapping the plugs up with plastic bags. :)

We returned to our workshop and met up with John, we were informed by the Station staff that one of the D type lights in the gents toilets on platform 3/4 was flashing on and off.
A new two pin D type light was fitted and a note left for Simon the full time electrician to order some of the lights has this was the last spare we had.

The moving coil speedo head from the Standard 4 engine 80097 was reassembled into the speedo head and a new paper gasket made to prevent the glass from pressing down on the mechanism as without the gasket it was preventing the moving coil meter needle from moving.

A final brew was taken with cake provided by John, Mmmmmmm.

Back next week for some more electrifying moments.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
