The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 11-12-2016.

Post by asbibby »

:P All five electrical volunteers were in attendance today, myself, Jack, Len, Clive and Jonathan, the tasks today after our first brew was to install a new LED floodlight on the last lamp post near the water tower at Heywood Station.

We were told that the Christmas lights down platform two at BBS would not switch on at 09:00 hours when the button on the control unit was pressed, this turned out to be that the time clock was set to come on at 15:00 hours and not 09:00 hours, the clock was adjusted to the correct time.

We sourced a ladder and all the tools that we would require and caught the DMU Santa Shuttle up to Heywood, we installed the floodlight and wired it up, it was then tested to ensure it was positioned correctly to light up the path to Green Lane and water tower.

We returned via the DMU shuttle to Bury Bolton Street Station for a bit of warmth and a spot of lunch in our work shop.

The next task was to investigate a fault station lamp at Summerseat Station and to check out the timer which switches the lights on automatically
We managed to get our ladder and tools and boarded the Santa special up to Summerseat, on arrival we unloaded our gear and switched on the lights manually to see which station light was not illuminated.
The fifth lamp post from the Bury end proved to be the culprit, the LED light bulb was changed and the fuse changed still the lamp would not work. It was decided to take down the lamp head and fault it back in the work shop, the top of the lamp was covered to prevent any water ingress and the Santa Special train caught back to BBS.

We stripped the light fitting which we had recovered from Summerseat Station, the problem turned out to be a loose wire in the bulb holder, this was repaired and will be returned to Summerseat Station next week. 8)

A final brew was had washed down with a few minced pies, nice!

See you all next week.
