The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 04-12-2016.

Post by asbibby »

:) All five of us in today, after a quick brew and the first mince pie of the season we packed up our tools and caught the next Santa train up to Rawtenstall Station. The task here was to reposition the mains socket and switch which controls the Christmas lights to a more convenient position for the Station Master.

This was swiftly done and tested, we then retired to the Buffer Stop bar for a brew and to thaw out, it was a sunny day but very cold. The Santa train was caught again to take us to our next stop, Ramsbottom Station to do a Christmas lights check on the lights underneath the canopy. 8)

We changed about thirty odd bulbs underneath the canopy for new 15w bulbs, lunch was then taken in the warm waiting room at Rammy with tea provide by the Station staff, Thank You.
John had brought with him a jam sponge cake for us all to sample, so a knife was sourced from the kitchen to divvy out the cake.

The Santa train was caught once again to take us back to Bury Bolton Street Station and back to our workshop.
The last job was to check out the Christmas lights alongside platform two, somebody had unplugged the mains supply to our control box and tampered with the time clock, Mmmmmmm.
This was corrected and hey presto the lights were once again illuminated on platform two, a lamp check will be done next week, about ten bulbs need replacing.
The lights switch off automatically around 19:00 hours.

That was it for another week of enlightening activities with the ELR Sunday Electrical Volunteers, back next week for more electrifying experience!!!!!!!

8) We don't ask for any brews from the station staff, they are offered to us because we do such a good job, lighting up peoples lives. :D
