The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 13-11-2016.

Post by asbibby »

 A full team assembled on Sunday in our workshop under the stairs at Bury Bolton Street Station, John, Len, Jonathan, Clive and myself, we had a swift brew and a bite to eat before getting all the Christmas lights and mobile tower scaffold loaded onto the train up to Rawtenstall Station.

Simon the full time electrician had told us that the cafe coach had been removed at Rawtenstall which was the source of electricity for the Christmas lights. He asked us to erect the lights from the nearest lamp post to the end of the platform were the cafe coach is usually positioned, lamp test will have to be done at a later date.

The Station Master had asked us previously to change the light bulbs in the Station booking hall for some brighter ones, this was done to his satisfaction.
Brews were then provided by the Station Master to us all which warmed us all up somewhat, the gear was then loaded back onto the train. On arrival at Ramsbottom Station all the gear was unloaded again and we began a lamp check on the Christmas lights we erected last week, sixty bulbs were changed using our mobile tower scaffold.
Brews were provided once again by the Station Staff and were gratefully received, it was then back to Bury Bolton Street to store away all our gear, we did not even have enough time for a final brew and to finish off the cake which we had left over from last week, will it keep for another week in the fridge?

We all then departed after a long day, back next week for some more lamp checks and Station light work at Heywood Station, weather permitting!
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
