The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 31-7-2016.

Post by asbibby »

 We had a full team of electrical volunteers out today, John, Len, Clive, Jonathan and myself, first job as usual was to check out the fire alarm call points at Bury Bolton street Station and the newly refurbished Trackside pub/cafe.
The tests proved satisfactory and the results logged.

The hot water boiler on the dining train was reported as being faulty, this was found to be two burnt out wires and a blown 13 amp fuse. The wiring was replaced and new crimps fitted, then tested with some water to ensure it boiled the water.
It was then returned to the dining train.

Simon had ordered some clamps to hold the trunking in place to replace the high bay lights in the carriage & wagon shed, these were taken down to the shed to ensure what type of hooks would be required to hold the clamps in position.
J clamps were found to be the type needed.

We then returned to our workshop to collect six new light fittings, some new reflectors and twelve new LED tubes.
Our mobile tower scaffold was assembled and we made a start on replacing the row of lights on road one nearest the roller shutter door, we managed to fit one unit and test it before returning to our workshop for some lunch.

It was then back to the carriage and wagon shed to complete the fitting of the other five light fittings and to ensure they worked OK, it is a big improvement on the old fluorescent tubes and fittings which were life expired.

To enable us to replace the other light fittings the stock will have to be moved on road 1.

Next week John and myself will be helping out on the Thomas weekend, no cake this week, how sad!
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
