The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 21-12-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:) On Saturday Jonathan came in to do some restoration work on the Station lamp-post light we have been give, these will hopefully eventually be erected down platform two.

Sunday saw a full team out, Jonathan, Len, Clive, John and myself, Simon had sourced us an electronic unit for some failed station lights at Heywood. The mobile tower scaffold was retrieved and loaded onto the Santa Shuttle up to Heywood Station accompanied by Clive, Jonathan, Len and John.
The new electronic igniter unit was bench tested with a station bulb to ensure that it would work with the Station bulbs.

I stayed behind to do some preparation work on the station lamp heads that Jonathan had been working on Saturday, the fibreglass tops of the lamps were sanded down but they will need a bit of repair work, with some filler paste before being painted.

The rest of the team returned to our workshop for some lunch after successfully replacing the failed igniter/ballast unit and replacing it with the new electronic igniter.
Simon will order another three of these units to repair another two of the Station lamps at Heywood Station, these will be done next week if we get the units.

We had received a report that one of the Museum exterior lamp-post lights was not working, but after sourcing a three way extension ladder and making our way to the Museum, we could not obtain the keys to the room containing the time clock for the exterior lights.

Back in our workshop we had a final brew and finished off the remnants of some coffee cakes before making our way home. 8)
