The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 14-9-2014.

Post by asbibby »

 A full compliment of electrical volunteers today, Jonathan, Len, Clive, John and myself, first job as per usual was to check out the fire alarm call points in the Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station concourse.
Len & Jonathan completed this task and recorded their findings, whilst the rest of the team got together all the equipment we would need to complete the job of installing the new light fittings in the waiting shelter on platform one at Ramsbottom Station.

Clive finished off fitting a new end onto the measured length of pyro that we would need to connect up the two new bulkhead light fittings for Ramsbottom Station.
A brew was had with a slice each of Sarah's home baked lemon sponge cake, delicious. thank's Sarah.
A trolley was used to carry all the equipment we would need and the next train, hauled by the crab 13065 was boarded to take us all to Ramsbottom.

Clive and John set about wiring up and clipping the pyro to the new fittings, whilst a section of conduit was fixed to the side of the waiting shelter, the SWA cable was then threaded through the conduit for John to terminate, using a 200mm gland into the light fitting.
All the conduit clamps were then fastened into position and the SWA cable clamped to the inside of the shelter.

A large platform stone slab was then re-instated at the back of the raised flower bed to enable passage behind the raised bed.

After a late lunch and a brew from the station staff the final task was to terminate the SWA cable into the lamp post and the wiring tested.
The station lights were then switched on to ensure that the two new light were illuminated.

Everything worked fine and we caught the crab 13065 back to our workshop in Bury Bolton Street Station.

A final brew was had along with a slice of chocolate cake which John had kindly brought in for us all to devour Mmm. :D

What are we going to do next week, watch this space!
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
