The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 06-07-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:D On Saturday Jonathan was in again painting the remaining trunking lids a shade of cream, now all the trunking lids have been painted we will fit them at Bury Bolton Street Station on a Monday when the railway is shut to passengers.

Sunday saw Jonathan, John, Len and myself in the workshop on a glorious day for the ELR diesel weekend, Jonathan and Len went off to do the usual fire alarm call point testing in The Trackside and Bury Bolton Street Station. Every thing worked satisfactory and the results were logged.

The bracket we had made and painted last week was got ready along with tools, electrical cable and a tall ladder, the job today was to fasten the bracket along with a floodlight high up on the over-bridge adjacent to our workshop.
The wiring in the two way conduit box was isolated and the box exchanged for a three way conduit box. The wiring was then extended along the wall and clipped using P clips to the position were the bracket was to be fixed.

Once the bracket was drilled and plugged into the wall the floodlight unit was fixed to the bracket and the unit wired up.
Lunch was then taken and the then the unit was tested out, OK.
This floodlight will be used to light up a dark area just outside the front entrance to The Trackside when the Raise The Roof 3 event is in late July.

We all had a walk to the Carriage & Wagon shed to drop off some paint cans and to check on the carriage plugs on some carriages.
While we were in the C & W it was noted that a light check needed doing as a few fluorescent tubes require changing.
It was then onto Baron Street works to take a few photographs and to check out the lights.
The light check and change will take place next week.

That was it for another day in the electrical department.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
