The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 12-1-2014.

Post by asbibby »

:D Jonathan did some more work on Saturday, painting black gloss on some of the carriage plug shells which had been stripped and cleaned previously.

:) On Sunday i was joined by Jonathan, John and Clive, Len was away visiting his sister. We where hoping for a reasonable day weather wise as we needed to take down the Christmas lights at Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom and Bury Bolton Street.
The weather was kind to us so we collected all the containers that we store the lights in and caught the first train up to Rawtenstall hauled by the B1, 61264.

We managed to take down the lights store them in the container and still have a couple of minutes left before we caught the same train that brought us to Rawtenstall, departed for Ramsbottom.

The two strings of lights at Ramsbottom were dismantled and stored away in the correct containers, we then boarded the next train, which turned out to be the DMU up to Rawtenstall. Lunch was taken on the train at Rawtenstall, it was then back to our workshop in Bury Bolton Street for a brew before we tackled the remaining lights on platform two.

Platform two Christmas lights where then taken down and stored away along with all the other recovered lights in our workshop.

We then had a chat with Simon the ELR electrician, one final brew and called it a day.

The water heater in Bury South signal box will be looked at next week, we believe it is a bit sickly! according to the PW lads.

Looking forward to next weekend with it being the first steam gala of 2014. :D
