The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 20-6-2010.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in yesterday Saturday to do some work on our spare Station Lamp heads, it makes life a lot easier when we want to replace any damaged lamp heads on our Stations to have plenty spare units.
On Sunday John was back from his holiday in Majorca, Len, Jonathan and myself showed up, the first job Len and Jonathan tackled was the weekly testing of the fire alarm system in the booking hall area and The Trackside pub/cafe.
John and myself got all the tools and test equipment we required to carry on with the replacement of faulty fluorescent light fittings in the engine shed at Baron Street. John made his way down to Baron Street in his new van whilst the rest of us walked down to meet him outside the shed.
Three units required changing from the old eight foot units to new twin high efficiency units, these we changed and tested them.
We then collected our mobile tower scaffold which had been scattered all over the shed and took it back in John's van back to BBS.
We then broke for some lunch and a brew in the glorious sunshine at BBS.
After lunch we investigated the light that illuminates the ELR shield in the Booking Office, it was a two pin halogen light bulb which had blown, a replacement will be sourced next week.
On platform three/four the first lamp post after the Station staff mess room, this fluorescent light fitting would illuminate when initially switched on but would then go out. We decided to get the mobile tower scaffold out which we had just brought back from Baron Street to enable us to remove the fitting for investigation in our workshop. We stripped the unit down and replaced the electronics in the unit for a new one, whilst also repairing the plastic cover which had split, this we repaired with perspex strips fixed with araldite, we will put the complete unit back next week.
We then packed in for the day to go home and watch a bit of footy on the box. COME ON ENGLAND.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
