The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 30-5-2010.

Post by asbibby »

After being on holiday for the past two weeks it was back to the ELR on Sunday, the war weekend. Sunday was a far better day weather wise and all the trains seemed well "occupied" occupied being the operative word!
I reassembled a Smiths electrical station clock which someone had given us about three years ago, previously it had been stripped down to it's component parts, the electrical motor was cleaned and oiled and the clock casing rubbed down and repainted.
The clock has now been left on test to check the accuracy.
Two six foot fluorescent fittings had been left outside our workshop these were repaired and put in our stock.
Clive and his son Alec turned up after going up to Rawtenstall station to check on the accuracy of the new station clocks which have recently been modernised, the electronics driving the two clocks is now accurate to less than a second per week.
Lunch was taken then after obtaining cheese and onion pie and chips from The Trackside pub/cafe.
We then set about reassembling five coach plugs which had previously been stripped cleaned and the shells painted, we rewired them tapped out the fixing hole and fitted new screws.
We then cleaned up the workshop and headed off home, a full compliment of volunteers should be out next Sunday.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
