The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 11-4-2010.

Post by asbibby »

We all took a holiday last weekend except for Jonathan who came into the workshop on Saturday and Sunday to paint the body of a station clock we were given some time ago it is a simple Smiths electrical clock in an octagonal case.
Jonathan also got to grips with five ex Summerseat lamp heads ready for refitting next weekend.
Jonathan came in again on Saturday to do some more work on the Station lamp heads.
On Sunday a full compliment of volunteers turned out apart from Clive who was attending a radio ham fair at The Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool, to try to sell some equipment of a "silent key" a ham who had recently passed away.
John, Alan and Len helped John to take his not so new "New Hudson" motor cycle out of his van to be displayed along with a fantastic display of vintage and modern motor cycles in BBS car park.
We were asked to look at the hot water boiler in the cafe on platform 3/4 it appeared that the thermostat or element was faulty, passed on to Simon the full time electrician to sort out.
We then went up to Baron Street shed to repair some of the fluorescent fittings, we found out which ones require changing and then found out Ian Riley's place was shut for the weekend, with our scaffold inside, job abandoned till next week.
On passing the carriage and wagon shed we decided to see if any of the coaches in for repair required the 24volt plugs changing, we found two so all four plugs on each coach were changed. The old plugs we took back to our workshop to be refurbished.
We broke for lunch and a brew after which we replaced some lamps in the BBS tunnel and made a start on refurbishing some of the 24volt carriage plugs. That was it for another Sunday before loading John's bike back into his van.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
