The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 24th January 2010.

Post by asbibby »

Jonathan came in on Saturday 23rd January to paint two station lamp heads and three bulkhead light fittings one of which we needed to fit at Heywood Station.
Sunday saw a full team of Jonathan, Len, John, Clive and myself, after a quick brew we separated into two teams Clive, John and Len caught the train up to Ramsbottom to fit the last of the refurbished station lamp heads.
The lamp head was fitted when the station staff informed us that the all station platform lights had failed, the fault was traced to a junction box were the SWA cable was connected into a length of pyro screwed under the pedestrian. footbridge.
The electrical team was also told that the platform lights at Summerseat had also failed, this was investigated and the fault traced to a tripped circuit breaker probably due to the inclement weather over the last few weeks.
The lights were tested for twenty minutes so hopefully they should be OK now.
Jonathan and myself formed the other team, we had been asked last week to make up a charging lead for the bubble car and trailer, we found some suitable cable in our workshop and headed up to Baron Street sidings to see if the cable we had found was long enough.
The cable was long enough so we then called in the Carriage and Wagon workshop to drill out the screws in some of the recovered carriage 24v plugs.
We then made our way back to our workshop to fit refurbished plugs on to the charging lead for the bubble car this will enable the batteries on the trailer to receive a charge whilst the unit is at a standstill.
We all had a late lunch and a brew then three of us set off to Heywood to swap the booking office bulkhead light fitting for a substitute one, the original one we need for Heywood shelter has we have another matching one spare, these will be fitted at a later date.
Last job was to fit a new plug and test an electrical heater from BBS mess room.
Deep in the heart of Swinetown.
