The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 23-01-2022.

Post by asbibby »

:D Today the electrical team consisted of Clive, Jonathan, John, Colin and myself, first task as usual was to have a brew.

The weather today was forecasted to be dry and so it turned out to be correct, our first task was to finish off securing the mains sockets that charge the carriage batteries on platform three at Bury Bolton Street Station. :)

Clive fixed with epoxy resin the LED emergency light strips on two of the emergency light fittings we had taken down from the top of staircases two and three/four last week, these would take a couple of hours to set before we could re-wire the emergency light fittings.

Whilst we were waiting for the epoxy resin to set the on the emergency light fittings, we decided to check out the Christmas lights which we erect on platform two at BBS, these caused us numerous problems over Christmas with water leaking into the fittings causing the lights to fuse.
We went through the lights one at a time checking and taping with self amalgamating tape where we think the problems are, we shall wait to see if they dry out over the summer period when we will leave them out in the sun to throughly dry out. 8)

Lunch was then taken in our workshop with a brew and a piece of chocolate swiss roll provided by Colin.

Our thanks to Richard Law who opened up staircase two at BBS, so we could carry on with the emergency light work on the overbridge and staircases.
Clive and Colin rewired the two light fittings to accommodate the LED emergency lighting strips, which we then re-fitted at the top of staircases two and three/four.
All the emergency lights were then checked out by switching off the mains to the overbridge lights, ensuring everything worked satisfactory.

Next week we hope to take down the last two light fittings in the middle of staircases two and three/four using our mobile tower scaffold.

With that we had a final brew with some cakes left over from last week, packed away all our tools and departed for home. :D
