Mainline more important than heritage?

Post by Deaks »

Manchester Evening News reporting that MoSI have done a deal with Network Rail that the new lines will sever the connection to the museum.

Pete Waterman is in favour on the grounds that current and future commuters must take precedence. The cost of continuing to provide a link to the main line is not justifiable on the numbers of movements that the museum actually receives.

I suppose the question is, if it became necessary to restore the ELR line to mainline operation and we were not allowed to run vintage trains and locos any more, what would your position be? For or against?
