Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Saturday 30-10-2022.

I signed in.
I wrote my post
Pressed submit
Was asked to sign in. Again.
My post vanished.
Alan has mentioned that this has happened to him, too.
Alan wrote the post.
I replied.
Was asked to sign in again.
Again, my text was lost.
So. The fault looks like it's on the signing in mechanism.

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Saturday 30-10-2022.

This forum has just lost my work again. So until they fix it, I'm not using it again. And Alan has reported the same. So whoever you are, get it right

The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 23-10-2022

No Alan or Colin this week. Alan on the ocean waves and Colin on a family mission. Len came. After health problems. Nice to see him again. And Jonathan, Jack(John) and myself. Plus Geoff, a potential new member. We'll have to meld him in to our special ways! First. A brew. Why not? Then to find out ...

The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 4-9-2022

A busy day ahead. After a hasty brew and a bacon/egg/sausage barm, Colin, Sophie and I went upstairs to reconnect the square clock in the booking hall. It had only lasted a few weeks. I had got myself a new soldering iron. Absolute rubbish. Hence a couple of bad joints. All sorted now and the sqock ...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 24-07-2022.

Re the art deco (square) clock in the booking hall. Hope you like it. Comments welcome! R Law commented that up until now, ours must be the only railway booking hall in England if not the world, without a clock. Shame to buck the trend!
Does anybody know were it came from?

Re: The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 5-6-2022

Just three of us today. Alan Colin and myself, Clive. Went to Heywood with the two signs we brought back some while ago. Colin had made two new wooden mounting boards from proper wood instead of the original plywood. Having said that, it did last nearly 20 years. I had procured some 3.5" u cla...

The Electrical volunteer's report 13-2-2022

Just Colin, Jack and myself, Clive today. Not a diesel day as expected - only on Sat. Unusual. Bacon butty. Cup of tea. Jack had his medical and Colin and I went to RWT to do the clock tower before the scaffolding was taken down. There was no need to worry. The decorators haven't been yet. So we fit...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 30-01-2022.

What we did at Rawtenstall. You may have noticed that the four clocks in the turret had stopped. So we got Simon to get a scaffold so we could get up to it. It had been refurbished in 2003 by a firm from Hampshire darn sarth. The power supply, battery back-up and controller were installed behind the...

The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 5-12-2021

Just Colin, Jonathan and myself today. It was mighty cold. So 1st job, organise a brew. Then took two repaired Chrimbo light controllers to the overbridge. Someone had already replaced them. So we left them in a bag with a note, with the banks of controllers on top of the store room. Hope the Chrimb...

The Electrical Volunteers Report Sunday 12-9-2021

Just Jack, Len, Alan and myself, Clive today. First, a brew. We found some screws for the brass floor plates covering the hinges on the main entrance to BBS. 4 doors. After cleaning out the threaded holes in the cast casements, and shortening the screws, the job was a success. So Alan took to brasso...

Re: The Electrical Volunteers report Sunday 22-08-2021.

Yes, quite a busy Sunday. The redesign of the driver for the ABC (automatic bell controller) at RWT station incorporated a 3amp fuse because the actuator takes that much but only for a fraction of a second but enough to eventually blow a 1 amp fuse. So I installed one of those self-healing gizmos. I...
